W.O.W. Praise Post (2nd Qtr)

Cash Assistance Given 2nd Quarter: March-June 2024

1.] A grandmother who was driving her family member [ who she has custody of] and had a horrible car wreck. The family member passed away and she and another family member sustained injuries. Provided cash assistance of $300

 

2.] A Young woman with an 11-year-old daughter recently released after being briefly incarcerated needed cash assistance for rent, did not have a car, and had to pay for rides. She was getting very discouraged trying to get back on her feet. We gave cash assistance of $300 to help her make a fresh start.

 

3.] A mother with two adult disabled 'children' living temporarily in the Suburban Extended Stay near Staples. Moving into the apartment but needed 2 nights paid to continue to live at Surburban until she's approved for a housing subsidy. W.O.W. paid $259 for two nights, and $41 for extras.[Total $300].


4 ] On April 15, 2024, four people were in a major crash. One of the adults had to have surgery on her spine because her back was broken. 

 

She was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Jacksonville, Florida with a prognosis that she wouldn't regain the function of her feet and legs.

 

She has only one daughter who has three small children under the age of five. The daughter temporarily moved to Jacksonville to be close to her mother while she went through therapy. She had to rent someplace nearby to facilitate this. W.O.W provided $500 cash assistance.

 

5.] Paid $300 directly to Hilltop Apartments in Chattahoochee, Florida for a woman who was hours away from eviction due to losing her job.

Ms. G caught the bus from Chattahoochee to Tallahassee.

 

W.O.W. official arranged for one of New Destiny's members to meet her at bus stop bring her to Tallahassee to pick up the check .

 

Member had to go to work so personally paid for her taxi to get back to bus stop for the long trip back to Chattahoochee.

 

6.] Gave $300 cash assistance to a 31 year old mother who was recently in a serious car accident where her car was totaled, and her neck was broken. She was in immediate need of cash assistance for food and other household items to take care of her three young children. She was unable to work at this time but has applied for foodstamps and other programs. Accident verified thru police report.

 

7.] Gave $300 in cash assistance to   70 year old woman who has been in and out of the hospital [3 times on life support[ extremely ill and rehab since November 2023.] After being dismissed home, WOW provided cash assistance for gas back and forth to medical checkups and other financial needs. 

 

8.] Gave $300 cash assistance to a 62 Year old woman who retired  December 2023 from Florida State Hospital [worked in food service] whose social security and retirement benefits are tied up snd and she needed cash assistance just to tide her over while she works to get her benefits started.
